International

The purpose of the International Committee is to promote a better understanding of other ethnic and cultural groups and countries; to support the United  Nations (UN) observances ;and to provide aid to disparities in other countries. We do this by participating as a delegation at the UN’s annual Commission on the Status of Women held in March; planning visits to international landmarks such as the UN and the African Burial Ground; coordinating forums addressing issues which impact women and girls from diverse ethnic and cultural backgrounds; supporting growth and development via contributions for our sisters in other countries. Additional committee service projects include:

  • We hosted Patricia Wilkins, Co-Founder and Director of BASICS International, which is an organization which provides services to children and families in Chorkor, Accra Ghana. We sponsored schooling for one child in Chorkor Accra Ghana.
  • Hosted Citizenship Naturalization Information forum on “How to Become a United States Citizen”. The presenter was Shyconia Burden-Noten, Community Relations Officer with the United States Citizenship and Immigration Services.
  • Aligning QCS activities with the United Nation’s Common Agenda and Sustainable Development Goals and the NCNW Core Principles, partnering with community organizations, our affiliates and advocates to have a collective impact on health, financial and educational awareness
