Barbara A. Montgomery Scholarship
ALL SUBMISSIONS AND EMAILS MUST BE RECEIVED BY: WEDNESDAY, APRIL 30, 2025

The National Council of Negro Women, Inc. (NCNW) Queens County Section will present its 1st Annual Barbara Ann Montgomery Scholarship on Sunday, June 8, 2025, at Antun’s, located at 96-43 Springfield Boulevard, Queens Village, New York from 6:00 P.M. – 10:00 P.M. during the section’s Black and White Awards Banquet.
The NCNW, Inc., Queens County Section has established a scholarship in honor of Mrs. Barbara Ann Montgomery, a Queens County Section Legacy Life member who departed on September 11, 2023, in partnership with her family to provide financial support for non-traditional students seeking higher education or returning to an accredited college, university, or trade school. Applications are open at this time.
Nominee Criteria
- The applicant must be an adult woman returning to an accredited college, university, or trade school or a college-bound high school student with a minimum 2.0 GPA (C average).
- The applicant must live in one of the five boroughs of New York City or Nassau County.
- The applicant cannot be a relative of a Queens County Section member.
- The applicant must be available to attend the Black and White Awards Banquet on June 8, 2025.

Each nominee must submit a one-page typed biography (12 point font) using the following guidelines (be sure to check for accuracy, grammar and typographical errors prior to submission):
- In your own words, describe what your academic and career goals are, and how this scholarship will help you achieve them?
- Describe a significant challenge you have had to overcome and how it has shaped your character.
- Why should you be considered for the Barbara Ann Montgomery Scholarship?
- Please include a copy of your acceptance or enrollment letter from the college, university, or trade school
